National award for Elliot's Restaurant
Elliot's Restaurant and Bar at Apex Waterloo Place Hotel has emerged as a jewel in Edinburgh's culinary crown after winning the Daily Record's 2012 Hot Plate Award.
Run by the national newspaper's popular columnist Tam Cowan, the fiercely contested competition saw Elliot's receiving a stunning score of 25/25 for its delicious menus and locally sourced seasonal ingredients.
The service received by Tam at Elliot's had him raving about the food and the staff who he said offered up "real smiles" and treated their clientele like "royalty".
Proclaiming Elliot's as great ambassadors for Edinburgh and Scotland, Tam also made special mention of two bar staff that excelled in making visitors feel welcome.
For Alan Harbisher, General Manager of Apex Waterloo Place Hotel, the coveted Hot Plate award is helping spread the word about the restaurant's fine food and has further energised its hard working staff.
He said: "We place great emphasis on investing in our staff and capitalising on their natural enthusiasm to deliver a memorable experience for our customers. This, combined with finely crafted menus, means we have enjoyed some incredible feedback and we are delighted to see all our efforts being recognised with this national award.
"Thanks to the Hot Plate award and Tam's glowing review we are now looking forward to introducing even more people to Elliot's."
