Edinburgh Zoo 100th Anniversary: 100 Years, 100 Prizes (22nd July 2013)
This July, Edinburgh Zoo will be celebrating its 100th anniversary, and it would like you to join in on the celebrations. Antiques Roadshow (11th July)
If you’ve ever wanted to find out how much that old vase your grandmother gave you is worth, now’s your chance. The well-known BBC One show, Antiques Roadshow, is coming to The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, only a short walk from the Apex International Hotel. The experts of the Antiques Roadshow will be available to inspect your antiques and family heirlooms from 9.30am. Make sure to get there by 4.30pm to guarantee your opportunity to meet the experts.

Scottish Real Ale Festival (11th – 14th July 2013)
If you’re looking to quench your thirst this July, this is the festival for you. For four days, novice beer drinkers and real ale connoisseurs alike will descend on the Edinburgh Corn Exchange to experience the wide variety of real ales on offer. On entry, you will receive a complimentary glass. Should you decide to return to the festival on another day, show the glass on entry and you will gain free entry.

Bupa Great Edinburgh Run (14th July 2013)
Make your way onto the street this July, and join the crowd in support of the runners in the annual Bupa Great Edinburgh Run. If you’re feeling up to the challenge, you could even join the 6,000 other runners and compete in either the 5km or 10km races. The 10km course will take you past some of the city’s most popular attractions, including Edinburgh Castle and the Scott Monument. Experience the city sights like never before.

Sofia National Ballet's Swan Lake (19th July 2013)
Everyone knows the name ‘Swan Lake’, but how many people can actually say they’ve experienced the beloved ballet in person? If you’re included on this list, the Sofia National Ballet will be performing Swan Lake to Tchaikovsky’s original score at The Edinburgh Playhouse this July. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable night, and look forward to finding out why Swan Lake is often regarded as the most romantic ballet of all time.

Runrig 40th Anniversary Celebration (20th July 2013)
In 1973, the folk-rock band Runrig was formed. Move forward four decades and the band is still going strong, having managed to amass folk-rock fans in not only the UK, but also in regions as distant as Canada. Help Runrig celebrate their 40th birthday by joining them on the 20th July at Edinburgh’s most famous attraction, Edinburgh Castle, close to both Apex City Hotel and Apex International Hotel.

British Open Golf Championship (14th – 21st July 2013)
Watch golf’s elite take on Muirfield in the British Open Golf Championship. The Championship was last held in Muirfield in 2002. That year, it was won by South African golfer Ernie Els, who just so happens to be last year’s winner. Will he be able to repeat the feat this year and complete his treble? With a total prize fund of £5 million, he will certainly be trying his best.

Edinburgh International Fashion Festival (19th-27th July 2013)
If you live for fashion, you won’t want to miss this. After last year’s impressive opening, the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival returns with even more to offer. Over the two weeks, a variety of galas and runway shows will take place in some of Edinburgh’s most prestigious venues. Make sure you don’t miss out on the exclusive shows from big names such as Clements Ribeiro and Harvey Nichols.

Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival (19th – 28th July 2013)
The UK’s biggest Jazz & Blues Festival is taking place in Edinburgh this July. During the 10-day long festival, more than 140 concerts will be held throughout the city. Headliner acts include the fantastic Jools Hollans, Mud Morganfield and Tia Fuller. The Jazz & Blues festival has always proved popular, and this year looks to be no exception.

Hopetoun Town and Country Fair (27th – 28th July 2013)
Located just outside Edinburgh, Hopetoun House plays host to the Hopetoun Town and Country Fair. At the heart of the fair is the International Horse Trials. During the trials you will be able to see some of Europe’s best riders compete in show jumping, dressage and cross-country. As well as horse trails, there will be plenty of live entertainment and stalls offering an assortment of foods and clothing. A fun-filled weekend for all the family!
