The View from the Shard
Description
The View from The Shard is a tourist attraction based in London's tallest building, The Shard. The View from The Shard was officially opened in 2013. The attraction offers visitors views from the skyscraper, with two viewing platforms inside the building: a triple level indoor gallery on Level 69 and a partially outdoor gallery on Level 72.
The entrance to the attraction is on Joiner Street near London Bridge Station. After passing through security, guests have an opportunity to have their photograph taken in front of a green screen, onto which a view from The Shard is superimposed. The photograph can be purchased at the end of the experience.
Animated maps and video screens along the lobby walls set the historic context of The Shard's London Bridge location. Facts about London and The Shard are shared through films and animations. Graphics show how the building is linked to London's transport system, displaying the lifts moving inside the building and the trains running underneath.
An orchestral and choral soundtrack performed by The London Symphony Orchestra and The Joyful Company of Singers plays throughout the attraction. After taking the lift down, guests arrive back in the ground level lobby where there is a gift shop with a variety of souvenirs.
