5 Days in Glasgow

Day 1 - settling in

The first day is all about settling in. Apex City of Glasgow Hotel is a short walk from Glasgow Queen Street or Central Train Station. Check-in, explore your room, the rest of the hotel, and then head out to explore your local ‘hood. For a celebratory start to the holiday head to The Rogano, a Glasgow institution for champagne and oysters - sit at the bar and soak up the atmosphere. Head to The Merchant city’s foodie quarter for a more laid-back vibe.

Day 2 - sTAYING LOCAL

A day of culture awaits after a cracking night’s sleep. First up the Gallery of Modern Art and The Lighthouse are both a short walk from the hotel and a good place to start. Stop for a cup of tea at the iconic Willow Tea Rooms, a insta-friendly café inspired by the works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Sticking with that theme, you won’t want to miss a trip to House for an Art Lover, located in the grounds of Bellahouston Park, also inspired by Mackintosh works of art. Back in the city, visit the famous horseman with the cone on his head, then venture inside The Gallery of Modern Art.

Day 3 - hEADING FURTHER AFIELD

Much of Scotland is on your doorstep when you stay in Glasgow. Head East to explore the shores of Loch Lomond, where you’ll find incredible hiking trails, water sports and scenic driving routes. The Burrell Collection is also closer to home. Set in the grounds of Pollock Parkit's a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. Stirling Castle is also a 40 minute drive from the city, and the famous Falkirk Wheel is not too much further away.

Day 4 - the style mile

You’ve done the sights, now it’s time to hit the shops. Known as Scotland’s Style Capital, retail therapy in Glasgow doesn’t disappoint. From the hotel, take a short stroll along Bath Street to Buchanan Galleries and browse the variety of shops that line Buchanan Street before exploring the picturesque Royal Exchange Square. From iconic department stores to Topshop and Apple, there’s something for everyone in this endless shopping heaven. The Merchant City is a packed with designer goodies, and for some amazing indie finds, head to the West End. Whilst you’re there, if you’ve time towards the end of the day, take a stroll around Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the picturesque University of Glasgow area.

Day 5 - CHECKING-OUT

You’ll want to enjoy your final hotel lie in, and no doubt another delicious breakfast, but if your travel plans allow, there’s still time to explore one last bit of the city. The Botanic Gardens in Glasgow’s West End is a beautiful place to spend a sunny day, and the Oran Mor across the road is the perfect place from which to enjoy a wee dram, and watch the world go by.
