Things to do with the family in Glasgow this spring

Glasgow is home to fantastic art galleries, historical National Trust properties, leafy green spaces, amazing street art, and a variety of live music venues. Whether you want to experience culture, food or shopping, you’ll find something to fit your interests within the boundaries of this up and coming city. Here are our favourites...

Explore Glasgow Science Centre

If you’re travelling with children, this is the attraction for them. Glasgow Science Centre is purpose built to both teach and entertain children, giving them an insight into the world of science and technology. Children under the age of seven can check out the Big Explorer area, where they can use water and operate a crane to keep a pretend cargo ship balanced. Or they can put on their own little puppet show under the sea, while having some fun with a musical shark and a giant walk-on piano. If your children are very young, then they’ll have a lot of fun in the soft play area on the bottom floor. And both adults and children alike will find the planetarium captivating, letting your imaginations run across the skies.

See MAMMA MIA! the Musical

Thank you for the music! Experience a musical like no other as MAMMA MIA! comes to the King's Theatre Glasgow this April. The global phenomenon and feel-good musical tells the story of a mother, a daughter and three possible dads on a sunny Greek island through the magic of ABBA’s timeless songs. Sing, dance and stay in luxury with our show-stopping MAMMA MIA! theatre package that includes a two-course pre-theatre dinner, Band A tickets to the musical at the King's and a dreamy overnight stay including a full Scottish breakfast at our Apex City of Glasgow Hotel. Available Wednesday to Saturday from 8 – 25 April 2020 - find out more.

Visit Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum

Located within the heart of Glasgow’s famous West End you can find Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum. Standing for more than a century, it was purpose built to be what it is today, with stunning architecture and a range of separate exhibit rooms. As a free attraction it really shouldn’t be missed, and it’s only short stroll from Kelvingrove subway station, making it easy to get to. Inside you’ll find more than 22 themed galleries, and 8,000 objects to grab your attention. Go from seeing Salvador Dali’s Christ of St. John of the Cross to viewing exhibits on dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals. It's one attraction you won't want to miss!

Get active at Glasgow Climbing Centre

If you’re looking to find somewhere fun where the kids can let off some energy, Glasgow Climbing Centre ticks those boxes. From bouldering to rope climbing, the Climbing Centre is a perfect afternoon for kids and adults alike. The Centre offers supervised sessions, as well as beginners’ sessions for children who are interested in learning to rock climb. To fuel up afterwards, they’ve even got a café that overlooks the main hall.

Hit the slopes at Snow factor

Snow Factor is Scotland’s only indoor ski and snowboarding facility, with 1,500 tonnes of real snow awaiting you on the UK’s longest indoor real snow slope. It’s also home to the UK’s biggest urban indoor ice-climbing wall, making Snow Factor a must-visit for thrill seekers looking for some ice-cool action.

Take on the slopes before checking out Scotland’s only ice bar where the walls, bar, tables and even the glasses are made of ice. If you need warming up, check out Bar Varia, a family friendly Bavarian-themed restaurant and bier halle, boasting panoramic views of the slopes. And if you need a place to stay after all the excitement, Apex City of Glasgow Hotel is just a 15-minute drive away.
