From 3 – 5 October, Edinburgh Oktoberfest brings a burst of Bavarian cheer to the heart of the city. With long communal tables and traditional music, visitors can raise a glass of German beer and enjoy pretzels, sausages and other German delights.
Samhuinn Fire Festival
On Halloween night, Edinburgh’s Samhuinn Fire Festival transforms Holyrood Park into a glowing stage of fire, drumming and immersive theatre. This modern reimagining of an ancient Celtic ritual marks the turning of the seasons, telling the story of the Summer King’s battle with the Winter King under the gaze of the Cailleach, a goddess figure who decides the outcome. With blazing torches, dramatic costumes and pounding rhythms, it’s an unforgettable way to experience Edinburgh’s mythic side as autumn gives way to winter.
