DIRECTIONS TO APEX CITY OF EDINBURGH HOTEL
HOW TO GET TO OUR GRASSMARKET HOTEL
Apex City of Edinburgh Hotel is located on the busy Grassmarket area of the city. Partly pedestrianised, the Grassmarket is full of restaurants and bars, and full of Old Town culture. You’ll see Edinburgh Castle from the front of the hotel and be just a few minutes’ walk to attractions like the National Museum of Scotland and Scottish National Gallery.
Below are directions to the hotel from the main transport options available to help you find us, but once you’ve arrived this compact city is best explored on foot or by bus.
After arriving at Edinburgh Airport, catch the Skylink 300 bus opposite domestic arrivals. Get off Forrest Road and walk towards the Greyfriars Bobby statue ahead of you. Once you reach the small statue walk down Candlemaker Row on your left. Turn left at the bottom of the road and walk along Grassmarket where the hotel is on your left.
Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the airport to Grassmarket and stop right outside the hotel.
If you’re arriving by car, follow the M8 Eastbound until you get to Edinburgh Hermiston Gait. Join the A71 toward the city centre and follow the road through the city. You’ll eventually get to West Port then Grassmarket where the hotel is on the right.
The hotel does have a small car park available on a first come first served basis for £12 per night. Spaces can only be reserved for blue badge holders. On street parking is also available around the hotel where charges vary and multi-storey parking is at NCP on King Stables Road.
If you’re arriving by train into Waverley train station, the hotel is just a 10 minute walk away. Exit onto Market Street. Turn right and then left at the roundabout onto Cockburn Street. You'll meet the High Street, then take a right where you’ll see Edinburgh Castle up ahead and then take a left onto George IV Bridge, and on the right hand side of the street you will see a road going down a hill called Victoria Street. Follow the road down Victoria Street where you’ll meet the Grassmarket.
Alternatively. If you have a lot of luggage or can’t manage the steps, taxis are available from the taxi rank outside the train station.
Edinburgh bus station is about a 20 minute walk from the hotel. Head toward Princes Street and then over The Mound crossing High Street and down Victoria Street to the Grassmarket. Alternatively, from the station, you can get a taxi to the hotel.
The tram is one of the most convenient ways to get to to the hotel. The closest tram stop to Apex City of Edinburgh Hotel is Princes Street, about a 10 minute walk. Head past the Scottish National Gallery and up the hill over The Mound. When you get to Lawnmarket, head down Victoria Street toward the Grassmarket.
