How to get here
Apex Waterloo Place Hotel occupies a large Georgian building in the New Town area of Edinburgh. Located to the East End of Princes Street, you’ll be centrally located and just minutes from key attractions like Edinburgh Playhouse and George Street shops, restaurants and bars.
Below are directions to the hotel from the main transport options available to help you find us, but once you’ve arrived this compact city is best explored on foot or by bus.
Edinburgh Airport is the closest airport if you’re travelling to Edinburgh by plane. To get into the city, catch the frequent Airlink 100 bus opposite domestic arrivals and get off on Princes Street. Continue East along Princes Street, passing the Scott Monument on your right until you meet Waterloo Place. The hotel flags can be seen on your left.
Alternatively, you could catch a taxi directly to the hotel from the airport for around £20.
Please note: From 3 September 2017 there will be ongoing works to Leith Street for approximately 10 months. The road will be closed for this period and will affect guests arriving by car to the hotel, diversions will be in place. The road will remain open to pedestrians. Find more information here.
The M8 Eastbound will bring you to the outskirts of Edinburgh at Hermiston Gait. If you're travelling from the South, head for the city bypass toward Hermiston Gait. Take the A71, following signs for the city centre. Take the Western Approach then Queen Street then York Place before following diversion signs around Calton Hill to Regent Street.
The hotel does not have a car park but the Q-Park at Omni Centre offers multi-storey parking. You can get a 15% discount voucher from reception and parking costs around £16.30 for 24 hours with the discount applied. During Leith Street road closure, follow diversion signs for entry to the car park via London Road.
Waverley Train Station is just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. Exit the station at the Calton Road exit and turn left onto Calton Road. Continue to walk under the bridge and on your right you’ll see a black door and an Apex Hotels sign. Push the button for reception to enter and you’ll be on level 0 of the hotel. Follow the internal signs to the lift which allow you to go up to reception on level 5.
Alternatively, exit onto Princes Street, take a right and head on to Waterloo Place where you’ll see Calton Hill monuments up ahead. The hotel is on your left.
Take a bus to the city centre and get off at Princes Street. Head East toward Calton Hill past the Scott Monument and Waverley train station and you’ll meet Waterloo Place where the hotel is on your left.
Alternatively, Edinburgh bus station is just a five minute walk from the hotel. Exit onto Elder Street and follow the path until you meet Princes Street. Take a left and continue to Waterloo Place.
Edinburgh Trams are frequent and offer a convenient way to travel in and out of the city. The route runs from Edinburgh Airport to York Place. You can get off at York Place take a right onto Leith Street (open to pedestrians during road works) and a left onto Waterloo Place where you’ll find the hotel on your left. St Andrew Square stop is also a five minute walk from the hotel. Head toward Princes Street, turn left and head toward Calton Hill. The hotel is on your left on Waterloo Place. Don’t forget to buy your ticket before you board the tram.
